The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel: 'The Alchemyst'

by Michael Scott

I have been seeing and looking at these books at the bookstores every time I walk in but it took me a long time to buy the first book. So here it is, The Alchemhyst.

Nicholas Flamel was a legend in the history for being believed to be an immortal after his tomb, as well as his' wife's tomb, were found empty on the night of their burial. This book fascinated me with its story and its facts as well. The characters are all real, they all existed in this world, except for the twins, Sophie and Josh Newman.

The first book was about Nicholas Flamel and his adventures with the twins, Sophie and Josh Newman. The twins started the journey with Flamel after finding out that he has been living for hundreds of years and that he is, in fact, an immortal. The twins were stunned when they saw magics (as in magic from spells and energies) in front of them. They were also shocked when they knew that they too has the ability to have these powers and especially when they were told that they are a part of the prophecy of Flamel's world.

Its story is very 'magical' and its very interesting as Mr. Michael Scott made this story with factual events in it and real places in the world. I really admire him for doing this because as far as I know, his technique in creating this book is unusual, therefore unique also. AndI find it fascinating.

For those who love mystery, magic, science-fiction, you have to read this series. If you also love a bit of history, you might enjoy this as well.

P.S.
I was trying hard to find the bookstore where they have the 2nd book, The Magician. However, I went to the nearby bookstores and also to the city, but I cannot find any. Most bookstores have all 5 but their missing The Magician. Isn't that crazy? Its the second book. I am going crazy. I hope to find it soon!

The Fault in Our Stars by John Green

"Its a metaphor", haha! Well, I'd love to start it with that since its my favorite line from this book.
So, I am not really a big fan of romance-type of books however, I got hook up with this book because it is greatly suggested by my friends. The time when I decided to buy it was a week before the movie comes out. I went home for several days wherein I see all of my housemates silently reading this book. Then, I decided to buy it immediately and read it before the movie comes out. I bought it! But, I failed to finish reading it before watching the movie.

The Fault in Our Stars is about Hazel Grace Lancaster who had been living er life with cancer. Despite her cancer, she tends to live normally through accepting her situation. She found the love of her life through the group session she goes to for cancer patients like her. His name is Augustus Waters. I unexpectedly loved this book and their story. Its a very good book and John Green is an awesome writer. I said the word "unexpectedly" because as I have mentioned I am not that into romantic stories. I do not know but I think this is a very lovable story. I've become open to romantic stories again (should be with a twist though).

Augustus is a very lovable and adorable guy. He is fantastic. He is a dream guy. I bet those who have read it will agree with me (its a plus that it was played by Ansel Elgort, agree?). His characteristic is a  definite match to Hazel Grace. They just clicked together.

Each of the characters has a life lesson to be given to everyone who will read it. Its not a book about cancer. Its a book about life. This story will deeply touch everyone's hearts. I've learned in this book that we should always be thankful, live life happily, appreciate everything, always move forward, and love happily and unconditionally.

Everyday by David Levithan

I have been longing to buy this book and read it. It took me so long since I like to buy books according to the list I've made. So, finally, I read it!

Everyday is very interesting, intriguing and mysterious. It is about a teenager who experienced transferring to different bodies everyday. He can be in a man or woman's body. It all started when he was born, he believed so. He thought it was normal for everyone but then he had this time that he figured out that it was kind of different. So his life is very exciting and struggling  in a way especially when he has found a girl he would love despite this unnatural situation. He journeys everyday in a different body but loves the same girl everyday.

I personally love this kind of stories where I cannot figure out how the story will go and what are the possible endings for it. I love that it surprises me for so many times. I recommend it to those readers that loves mysterious and definitely, unique stories.

FLIP by Martyn Bedford

Flip is about a boy named Alex who woke up in a different body of another boy named Philip. Alex was really shocked and was near to a mental breakdown when he found out that he is in a different body. He went on day to day to find out why and how did this change happen to him and what is the connection between him and Philip.

Anyone who will have this same experience will definitely do what Alex did. He lived a normal teenage life despite being in a different body. He had friends, he goes to school, have family time and sibling wars. But he did not stop searching about his case of changing bodies and he tried to find someone who knows this situation, maybe someone who has experienced it too. Of course he also did try to go to his own family, his real family and he tried to find out where is his body and what is happening to it while he is in Philip's body.

Flip is a very interesting story. Well, I personally like mysterious stories. Those kind of stories that will keep you thinking what happened, why did it happened and etc. I thought it was a cliche type of story but then I figured out that its very intriguing and it kept me hooked up every chapter. I suggest this book to those readers who likes a bit of a mystery, challenge and a unique type of story. And its awesome to find these three characteristics in just one book.

Divergent Trilogy's last book:'Allegiant'

I was so excited for this book that I have even reserved it to my favorite bookstore in my country before its official release. Luckily, I was a member of this bookstore that's why I am able to reserve. That's how I really want to read it. I was so stuck with Insurgent and I can't really contain my curiosity for this last book.

So, Allegiant is very different to Divergent and Insurgent. It is different in terms of its setting and purpose of the characters. It is surely the continuation of the story but it is more about the beginning of everything. It is about how these factions started, who were responsible for making them and why these were made. All of the answers were unexpectedly outside the fence. And yes, finally, we'll know in this book what's outside the fence.

There were a lot of revelations here and its very breathtaking. After you have read Insurgent you might be curious with one thing, most probably, and the answer there will be the start of this last book.

I am very sad that it was the last book of the trilogy. I was very sad when I am nearing to the last page because I do not want it to end but when I reached the last part it killed me. Seriously, it did. The last part was really urgh! I do not know how to put it in right words. Might as well read it now and figure out.

As for the whole Divergent Trilogy, it was a really different kind of book to me. I unexpectedly loved all three books. I wanna give two thumbs up to Ms. Roth for this. Its very unique and beautiful. So that's the end of it.

P.S.
So maybe it might be the last book of the trilogy but, Ms. Veronica Roth released another book, FOUR: A Divergent Collection. I was lucky to be in the USA when it was released so I immediately bought it from the nearest bookstore. I will start to read it after this. :)

It's been a long time since I wrote here because of school and other extracurricular things. However, I have never stopped reading.
So...
I have finished the first three books of  the Lorien series but I haven't made a review about it yet because I want to find the next books first and as of now, I can't find any, unfortunately.

I think I will post my reviews about Allegiant, Flip, Everyday, The Fault In Our Stars and The Alchemyst.
I missed doing this even though I know no one reads it but its fun to do this after reading each book.
